Chinese Masks; bright, colourful, and steeped in history and tradition, from the Buddhist masks of Tibet to the Royal masks of Beijing, Asia’s love of masks is abundant. And this month children can join in the events London has organised  to celebrate the Chinese New Year by popping into the National Portrait Gallery on February the 10th. A special  workshop has been organised for little ones where they can create and paint their very own Chinese masks, the first workshop is at  11.30am and the second at 2.30pm. You can also drop in on a  Chinese Story telling session in the Main Hall in the Ondaatje Wing on the same day at 2pm and 3pm.
Keeping to the family outing idea, for the very little ones why don’t you pay a visit to the The Horniman Museum and Gardens, where from the 2nd to the 9th of February you can learn about the art of Chinese Dragons  in morning workshop sessions.
