Pancake day otherwise known as Shrove Tuesday, that traditional Tuesday before lent, when we all stuff ourselves with delicious pancakes, drizzled in lemon juice and sprinkled with sugar is nearly upon us. What better way to mark the occasion that to take part in one of the annual Pancake races planned around London. On the 5th of February this year the fun and often fund raising events will be staged. Join in the fun and race down the road tossing your pancake in the air along with the other slightly crazy competitors.
The Great Spitalfields Pancake Race and All Hallows by the Tower, are just two of the organised races which take place every year, even members of the Government get involved, when teams from the House of commons, The House of Lords and the Press line up opposite Parliament to toss their pancakes in the air and raise money for charity at the same time. Never seen this quirky English custom? Well all you have to do is to be in London on the 5th.
