Because of maritime influences, particularly the warm North Atlantic Drift and the prevailing westerly airstreams, Sweden has higher temperatures than its northerly latitude would suggest. Stockholm averages –3°C (26°F) in February and 18°C (64°F) in July.

Riksgränsen - the the most northern ski resort in the world

One of the oldest buildings in Riksgränsen, “Meteorologen” (“The meteorologist”) has been sympathetically refurbished and turned into a ski lodge. Great care has been taken to retain the old building and features such as ceiling beams and open fires have been preserved. The lodge has 14 double rooms with high quality “Hästens” beds to ensure a really good night's sleep.
