Gusts of what?

On today's BBC TV weather forecast Suzanne Charlton several times told us that there would be "gusts of wind". What else could they have been of? Also, like many of her forecaster colleagues, she apparently cannot resist talking about rain "moving its way". Why can it not simply move? These people have limited time for their presentations, so why do they persist cluttering them with superfluous ...

eathquake today 27/2/08 in preston

at 11.20pm today i felt a eathquake in ashton-on-ribble, in preston. i was watching tele with my husband when our sofa's began to shake and the door and the wooden floor was shaken. it lasted about 10 secs.
